FERRARI 500 SUPERFAST

The 500 Superfast was unveiled early in 1964 at the Geneva show. Of the 36 500 Superfast built (the 37th married a Superfast body with a 330 GT engine), a dozen were exported to the United States and 10 more originally were sold in England.

The 500 Superfast was built on a chassi based on Ferrari's 330 GT 2+2 and carried a new 5.0 liter V12 engine that created an astounding 400 horsepower. But what made the car impressive was its design both inside and out.

Outside, the car wore a sleek but elegant Pininfarina coach-built body. Inside, the car features Connolly leather.

The car was produced in two series, I and II, with Series II coming with a five-speed instead of four-speed transmition and with air conditioning and power steering as options. The 500 Superfast was the last of the very limited production Ferraris and was intended, Ferrari said at the time, for "sovereigns, performers, and great industrialists."
