JORGE BEN - FÔRÇA BRUTA

1970 - Jorge Ben met what many consider his ideal back up band in a São Paulo night club in 1968, a tight ensemble of drums and hand-held percussion, "Trio Mocotó" was as tight and rhythmically savvy as Jorge himself and shared his roots in samba school's demanding percussive orchestra.

A year later, Trio Mocotó left and indelible mark performing with Ben his masterpiece "Charles Anjo 45" at Rio's International Song Festival. Their collaboration went on into the early 70's with brilliant results, and is wholly captured for the first time in "Fôrça Bruta", a step further in Ben's back-to-basics move.

Recorded in three days between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, "Fôrça Bruta" captures the freshness of Ben's rhythmic dialogue with the Trio, who learned the cuts on the spot, and improvised through and through. The alchemy shines through in tracks like "Oba, lá vem ela", "O Telefone tocou novamente" and "Mulher Brasileira", all early 70's hits.
