STRANGER IN THIS TOWN

1990 - Mick Taylor's Stranger in This Town was recorded mostly in Sweden in the summer of 1989, except for "Little Red Rooster," recorded in Germany, and "You Gotta Move," recorded in Philadelphia in December of 1989.

This is a blues album, make no doubt about it, and it is one of Taylor's finest.

"This album is dedicated to my late father"   Mick Taylor

STRANGER IN THIS TOWN:
A good rock'n'roll song. An exile in a strange city. A lust song.

I WONDER WHY:
Fast Chicago Blues Shuffle. Learned this from Albert King. A big influence, and a man who is wise and whom I respect and admire.

LAUNDROMAT BLUES:
Albert King again. First heard this on "Born Under a bad Sign" album a great record.

RED HOUSE:
A homage to Jimi Hendrix. My tribute to the greatest guitar player who ever lived. Jimi was a genius and so genuine and humble.

JUMPIN' JACK FLASH:
One of my favorite Stones song. Mick Jagger's surrealistic lyrics defy logical interpretation. "I was drowned, I was washed up, left for dead". That's the blues.

LITTLE RED ROOSTER:
Howlin' Wolf. His carthy, sensual blues style was spine tingling.

GOIN' SOUTH:
Latin American excursion. I love South American brazilian music. Max Middleton at his best.

YOU GOTTA MOVE:
"Get down on your knees and pray" then move !

"At the end of 1974 Mick Taylor told Mick Jagger that he was leaving the band, and Mick Jagger told me. I thought he was a fantastic player. But at the same time there was a certain lack of camaraderie, shall we say. It's not Mick Taylor's fault - He's a very sweet guy - but it was just that we're very volatile people in this band and if there is somebody who just sits there, it's like, 'Come on, let's put a firecracker under his arse'. "

Keith Richard
