Swiss Champion in the 350cc in 1959
1957 - In 1957, after he passed his racing license exam, Jo Siffet would start competing in local races. To cover the expenses for riding his motorcycle, Jo Siffert would buy crashed cars and, using coach-building certificate and knowledge, would rebuild and resell then.
His first international event would, however, take place in Germany. This was at the Norisring in the town of Nuremberg in which Siffert entered a race on his new AJS 350, a bike he bought himself but in bits so that it had to be assembled. During first years, Siffert did several more races in Germany as well as in Belgium.
