1964 -  Amigos, final de semana em Le Mans com o Porsche 904 GTS da dupla  Robert Buchet - Guy Ligier. Eles terminaram a prova em 7º na geral. Guy Ligier além de piloto foi também construtor de carros de F1. 

Fiz uma sessão de fotos com um modelo na escala 1:18. É um modelo bem antigo, que possuo faz anos, mas que reproduz com exatidão esse maravilhoso Porsche.

1970 - O Porsche 908/03 #15 de Hans Herrmann/Richard Attwood terminou em segundo. O #21 da dupla Pedro Rodriguez/Leo Kinnunen teve problemas mecânicos e abandonou.

#20 da dupla Jo Siffert/Brian Redman que fez a pole position não terminou a prova

REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE

Hoje é aniversário dele, o maior garoto propaganda do Porsche 550. Até hoje quando alguém vê um 550 a primeira imagem que vem na cabeça e a do "Little Bastard". Uma vez quase comprei uma daquelas réplicas de fibra de vidro com motor VW, acabei me contentando com uma miniatura em escala.

URBAN OUTLAW is a portrait of Magnus Walker, the rebel Porsche customizer who turned a hobby into an obsession, and an obsession into a successful business. From a workshop in downtown Los Angeles, Magnus obsessively harvests fragments from donor 911s, grafting them onto vintage frames to create one-off automobiles with the spirit of Ferdinand Porsche but an ethos entirely his own.

911 FOUR DOOR

1967 - Texan William Dick contracted race car builders Troutman and Barnes in Culver City, California, to make a four-door 911 for his wife. Troutman & Barnes lengthened the wheelbase 533 mm, 21 inches, to provide room for rear seats and foot wells.

Coachbuilder Dick Troutman and mechanical engineer Tom Barnes in Culver City, California, had a history of designing and producing original race cars for very successful independent American teams.

To accommodate four doors, Troutman and Barnes purchased two additional 911 doors and mounted them backwards as "suicide doors" to provide rear seat access. The B-pillar was robust, the car did not creak with all four doors open.

911 Four Door, Troutman and Barnes build the car with the Sportomatic Transmission, a newly arrived option. In later years, the owner replaced it with the S five-speed.

While rear doors offered easy access, seating was confined because the low 911 seats provided no room for toes beneath them. Rumors suggested the conversion cost was more than $20,000 in 1967.

ALFRED NEUBAUER E O BARÃO DE TEFFÉ

1952 - O Barão de Teffé, nosso diplomata-corredor foi co-pilôto do Príncipe Metternich, ou vice-versa, na Carrera Panamericana do México em 1952.

O fato é que o todo poderoso chefão da Mercedes Benz, Alfred Neubauer, descobriu o Barão de Teffé, presente ao local da partida como turista. 

Como o Príncipe Metternich não tinha companheiro para sua Porsche, Alfred Neubauer os aproximou, tendo mesmo cedido um roteiro completo da prova de autoria da Mercedes Benz, para aquela corrida.

Sabe-se também que a habilidade mecânica de Manoel de Teffé, bem como sua tremenda disposição física, foram fatôres irrefutáveis do sucesso da dupla, pois se Metternich é príncipe, Teffé barão, também é um príncipe na estrada ...

A winter’s tale: Of all the times to unveil a new car, Porsche chose the coldest season of the year to roll out the new open 908 at Hockenheim. Jo Siffert (third from left) in particular appreciated the long-tail version of the Flounder (overleaf), but at Le Mans, dropped out with transmission problems.
